Eufy’s All-in-One Garage Control E120 is compatible with a wide range of garage door openers, both new and old, and allows you to use your phone to open and close the door, send 2K video, and receive reminders when you have left it open. The E120 can be operated with voice commands from Google Assistant and Alexa, and it comes with a 32GB microSD storage card so that all of the clips can safely remain local.

The E120’s pricing is the main drawback, but others may find its time-consuming installation process and unpleasant audio and video lag unacceptable. Upgrade kits for many openers cost $50 or $60, so selling the $80 E120 is difficult. However, a security camera is not a feature of the majority of other units. See where it stands in the rankings of the top smart garage door openers and whether it is worth the money and effort by reading the review.

Price and availability

For $79, the All-in-One Garage Control E120 is sold on Eufy’s website and on Amazon. It is frequently reduced by up to 30%.

Compatibility, installation, and design

The Eufy All-in-One Garage-Control E120 can be used to update a wide range of door openers, including those manufactured by Wayne Dalton, Linear, Marantec, Stanley, and Genie (Series II only) as early as 1993. Products with an orange, green, or red Learn button can also be used.

Connecting it to my Chamberlain opener, around 2001, required a ladder and a little screwdriver, so it was not exactly a tool-free experience. I began by fastening the magnetic camera module of the E120 to the underside of the door opener. For people with plastic cases, it comes with a stick-on plate.

The Eufy Security app was then downloaded and set up on my Google Pixel 7 phone. Please note that the EufyLife app for health goods and the Eufy Clean app for robot vacuums are incompatible with the E120. There is a need for some consolidation.

Do not worry if wiring worries you. I doubled up the other ends of the provided wires with the control wires of the opener and attached them to the camera’s terminals as instructed in the written instructions.

Performance

I was able to capture crisp footage of anything from bicycles close to the camera to a car parked 30 feet outside the garage while the door was open thanks to the camera’s 105-degree field of view. However, its barrel distortion gives the appearance of rounded straight lines. The door instructions, video, and audio all had an aggravating three-second lag. The video feed occasionally briefly froze.

To open or close the door, tap the Garage Door icon located in the center of the Eufy app’s main screen. It activates a bothersome alarm that is shocking at first but is deactivated. When I discovered that I had left the garage door open and that a neighbor’s cat was running loose while I was out of town, the E120 came into its own. After scaring it away with the opener’s alert, I shut the door.

Verdict

Those who wish to upgrade an outdated garage door opener for smart home use without having to buy a separate home security camera can do so with the Eufy All-in-One Garage-Control E120. With 2K video, phone control, and an integrated alarm, it accomplishes the essentials well. The video is safely stored locally on the 32GB microSD card that comes with the device. Unfortunately, it takes a lot of time to install.

Despite its excellent features, the All-in-One Garage Control E120 is limited by its price, which is greater than that of the majority of the top smart garage door openers. Nevertheless, the E120 effectively puts your garage door opener’s power in your pocket, or at the very least, on your phone.
